Senior Director, Markle Foundation

As Senior Director, Laura Bailyn helps shape and drive the foundation’s work in health as well as new areas of program exploration.

Bailyn has an extensive background in technology and a broad range of policy issues. Most recently, she worked as a business consultant for Apple, Inc., focusing on rights management, partnership development, and content clearances for Apple’s Marketing Communications Group. She also spent two years working for Two Trees Management Company where, among other things, she oversaw RFPs, land use, and rezoning matters. Prior to that engagement, Bailyn practiced law in the intellectual property and technology group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, & Flom, LLP. She first began working for Markle as the Program Manager for the Internet Governance Project, helping to set the groundwork for Markle’s involvement in technology-related health and national security policy.

Bailyn holds a Bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Juris Doctor degree from the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law. She was a Coro Foundation Fellow in Public Affairs from 1993 to 1994.
