The Partnership for Global Policy Participation
The Partnership is a multi-sector organization dedicated to inclusive [or universal participation in] global policymaking on issues related to information and communications technologies. The Partnership seeks to enable meaningful and effective participation by developing nations in international venues where these policies are made.

Future at Stake: Developing Nations and Global Technology Policy
For developing countries, new technologies represent new opportunities to support democratic processes, economic productivity and competitiveness, development efforts in health and education, and environmental protection activities. The process of globalization and the increasingly borderless nature of networks and technologies means that related global policy decisions have major implications for such countries. Full and equitable participation by developing nations within related policy venues is therefore critical to the realization of their developmental goals.

A Mandate for Action within the International Community
As an operational network that includes governments, industry, foundations, non-profit organizations and international policymaking bodies, the Partnership was formed to implement the recommendations of The Digital Opportunity Task Force (the Dot Force), which was established by the Okinawa Charter on the Global Information Society at the G8 Kyushu-Okinawa Summit in July 2000. "Everyone, everywhere," states the charter, "should be enabled to participate in and no one should be excluded from the benefits of the global information society."
