Mission
Mission
The Partnership's mission is to increase and enhance the participation of developing nations in global policymaking on issues related to information and commmunication technologies (ICTs).

This mission is established with a larger purpose: to enable developing nations in the pursuit of economic and social opportunities that result from the shift to a technology-driven, interdependent, global society.
Objectives
The Partnership has taken as its objectives the recommendations laid out by the G8 Digital Oportunity Task Force for meaningful and effective participation by developing nations in ICT-related policymaking. These objectives are:
  • To strengthen technical expertise and policymaking ability within developing countries.
  • To enhance awareness, within the developing and developed world alike, of the role that ICTs can play in supporting economic and social development, and of the important ramifications of international ICT decisions on national policies and regulations in developing countries.
  • To provide developing nations with easy and affordable access to timely information about key ICT-related issues on the international agenda, as well as information on the forums where decisions are made on these issues, and on the processes that result in these decisions.
  • To overcome financial and other barriers to full and effective participaton, including barriers of language and on-going time commitment requirements.
  • To foster multi-stakeholder engagement in the search for and implementation of solutions that enable inclusive global ICT policy making.
  • To promote equity-stake access and participation of developing nations within relevant global policy forums, where necessary.
