Joseph C. Kvedar, MD

Joseph C. Kvedar, MD, is Founder and Director of the Center for Connected Health, a division of Partners HealthCare that is applying communications technology and online resources to improve access and delivery of quality patient care. He is leading research in the use of a combination of remote-monitoring technology, sensors, and online communications and intelligence to improve patient adherence, engagement, and clinical outcomes.

Kvedar is internationally recognized for his leadership in the field of connected health. He was co-editor of Home Telehealth: Connecting Care within the Community, the first book to report on the applications of technology to deliver quality health care in the home. He is a frequent lecturer and has authored over 60 publications on connected health. He has been honored by the New England Business and Technology Association for his extraordinary leadership in the field. In 2009, Mass High Tech, The Journal of New England Technology, named him an All-Star in the field of health care.

He is a past President and Board Member of the American Telemedicine Association (ATA). In 2009, Kvedar was honored by the ATA with its Individual Leadership Award, recognizing his significant contributions to connected health and telemedicine.

Kvedar is a co-founder of Healthrageous, a personalized connected health company offering wellness programs to the health plan and employer community, and serves as Chair of the company’s Scientific Advisory Board. He is a board-certified dermatologist and Associate Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School.

Kvedar contributed to the Markle Connecting for Health Common Framework for Networked Personal Health Information.
