Question: Did President Clinton commit perjury during the Lewinsky investigation? If you had been in Congress, would you have voted to impeach him? And, most importantly, will you pardon Clinton if you are elected president?

Answer from Howard Phillips:
Phillips Was Key Advocate Of Clinton Impeachment
In matters of impeachment and possible government corruption, we must do our duty.
In 1994 as Chairman of the Conservative Caucus I organized the campaign for a Congressional impeachment inquiry by recruiting some 35 organizations into the coalition and working to persuade members of Congress that Mr. Clinton in all likelihood had committed impeachable offenses in the category of treason and bribery. This assessment was a consequence of the evident exchange of policy decisions favorable to Communist China in return for cash inflows to various Clinton/Gore enterprises.
I most certainly would have voted to impeach Clinton had I been in the House of Representatives. Had I been in the Senate, I would have insisted on a trial which permitted the appearance of live witnesses and a full examination of the evidence which had been developed to show that President Clinton was guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors.
With respect to pardon President Clinton, the President has said he would refuse a pardon, but I am not going to give him the opportunity to refuse it. He would not receive one from me in a Phillips presidency.
