Answer from Howard Phillips:
Constitutionally, Criminal Justice Is A Matter Of State And Local Jurisdiction
I am against violence both foreign and domestic.
However, I believe that the federal government has no principal role in the criminal justice system. That's really a matter of state and local jurisdiction.
When people engage in criminal acts they should be dealt with accordingly. However, the government should not go looking for trouble and arbitrarily meddle in the affairs of individuals or families. Obviously, if you have a situation where a person is in physical danger, then the community, the family, the church and indeed civil government itself has a opportunity to intervene in order to promote domestic tranquillity and provide for the safety of innocent persons.
