Answer from Howard Phillips:
Changing Views
Al Gore has indicated that he has changed his views since 1977.
However, in case of George Bush, I don't think there is much evidence that he has really changed his view.
Bush did an interview earlier this week with Tim Russert in which he indicated that he didn't think anything at all could be done about abortion until there was a change of mind on the part of the American people.
I think that Christians and conservatives who think that George Bush intends to do anything at all to stop abortion are deluding themselves. There's simply no evidence whatsoever that he will. He has not promised to name pro-life judges, he has not promised to cut off federal funding for Planned Parenthood and he has not even promised to recall the FDA decision on RU486. Not one baby's life has been saved by the election of Republican Presidents and Congresses over the last two decades and there is no factual reason whatsoever to conclude that George Bush will break this trend if elected.
