Mouse: Web-Based Resource for Teachers
Date Initiated: May 1999

In May 1999, the Markle Foundation assisted Making Opportunities for Upgrading Schools (MOUSE) to develop a Web-based online resource for teachers, administrators, and educators. The Web site is meant to help them best utilize technology in schools and share their expertise and experiences with others in the field. It serves as a best-practices model, allowing teachers to share examples of outstanding curriculum projects that effectively integrate technology into curricula; helping administrators design and implement technology plans; and providing a volunteer-staffed online resource for educators needing technical support.

This project became part of MOUSE's ongoing effort to create a permanent line of communication between technology professionals and educators. Their work continues to aim in helpingschools become more self-sufficient in planning for and using technology in meeting their curricular goals. MOUSE is a non-profit organization providing volunteer manpower and technical support to the New York City public schools.
