Interactive Media For Children

Markle Forums on Children and Media
Date Initiated: September 2001

The Markle Foundation supported the effort of emerging communications media and information technologies to improve people's lives. Under the aegis of the Interactive Media for Children program, we helped provide research and resources that could shape mainstream interactive media experiences for children. We encouraged the development of projects that seamlessly blended entertainment and education and help build foundations for creative and constructive adult lives.

The Markle Foundation Forum on Children and Media contributed to this process by providing both process and project-specific information to a diverse group of children's industry leaders; offering a place to learn from the industries successes and challenges.

The Forum was co-directed by Richard Chase, MD and Stephen Gass, each founders of independent children's media companies, Learning Pathways and The Gass Company, respectively. Under their leadership, the forum was thoughtful, provocative and informative.
