Policy for a Networked Society: IT For Development

University Of California, San Diego: Institute on Global Conflict & Cooperation
Date Initiated: January 2001

In 2001, Markle provided funding to the Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation at the University of California, San Diego for the International Communications Policy Workshop. The Workshop created an opportunity for leading experts on communications economics, technology, law, and policy to work intensively with heads of communications regulation in developing countries in order to alleviate policy problems. This collaboration assisted developing countries in creating regulatory and legal environments that allow for the open proliferation of communications.
