Consumers Could Get Lab Test Results Themselves Under New Proposed Rule

Under a new proposed rule being issued by the Department of Health and Human Services, patients anywhere in the country will be able to get their clinical test results directly from the lab.  The Clinical Laboratories Improvement Amendments, or CLIA rule, provides patients with another channel to get access to their own health care information. 

Health Affairs blogger, Chris Fleming, references the blue button, an initiative sponsored by Markle and the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation, as another application that provides consumers with the ability to download their own personal health care information.
