Group Launches Health IT Privacy Project To Develop Policies

On Tuesday, the Center for Democracy and Technology announced its merger with the Health Privacy Project to expand the group's focus on several patient privacy issues, such as patient consent in electronic health records and enforcement for privacy lapses, PC World/Washington Post reports (Gross, PC World/Washington Post, 3/12).

The group plans to work with consumer advocates, providers, employers, technologists and others to promote and implement health IT privacy policies (Merrill, Healthcare IT News, 3/11).
