Lloyd N. Morrisett

In today's complex, interrelated society, much of the information on which personal action is based comes from the press, newspapers, television, and radio.

In this essay, former Markle president Lloyd N. Morrisett identified and examined an emerging dilemma: as  Americans faced a growing need for accurate, unbiased news in order to fulfill their individual responsibilities, trust in those news sources seemed to be diminishing. Morrisett suggested that this dilemma was caused by the changing conditions of modern life, the battle for press freedom, and the advancement of technology.
