Lloyd N. Morrisett

The right to vote is no longer the basic political right at stake; rather, it is the right to know.

In this essay, former Markle president Lloyd N. Morrisett reflected on the Constitution and the rights of Americans in the electoral process.  In particular, he focussed the shift in "our Constitutional experience" and suggested that the right to information should be considered a part of the right to vote.  He wrote, "The competence to participate and to vote intelligently depends on having access to information about candidates, their character, and the relevant issues."
