Dave Wenig will become CEO of the new eBay in 2015 upon completion of the company’s spin-off of PayPal as an independent company. As president of eBay Marketplaces, Wenig leads the eBay, classifieds and StubHub businesses globally. He brings a strong combination of global operating experience, deep leadership skills, and understanding of global technology platforms to eBay.

Wenig joined the company in September 2011 after more 18 years at Thomson Reuters, the global media organization, where he served as CEO of its largest division, Thomson Reuters Markets, from April 2008 to August 2011. In that role, he led the global financial services and media businesses, which provide information, analytics and technology services to professionals in the financial services, media, and corporate markets globally, as well as to individuals through its consumer media arm.

Prior to serving as CEO of Thomson Reuters Markets, Wenig was chief operating officer of Reuters Group PLC, a provider of financial market data, from 2006 to 2008. In that role, he led Reuters’ consumer media and Internet strategy as well as all of the company’s data, information, and analytical products, the sales force, information technology, and global marketing, among other functions.

Before 2006, Wenig served on the Reuters Board and held numerous positions in the organization, including leading several divisions from 2003 to 2006 as president of Business Divisions, with the responsibility of leading the revitalization of Reuters and its four business segments.

Wenig received a BA from Union College and a JD from Columbia University Law School. Wenig serves on the boards of March of Dimes, and is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders.
