    Job Summaries and Responsibilities: 

    Markle Foundation is an entrepreneurial and innovative organization with a geographically dispersed team that is committed to creating a skills-based labor market that works for all Americans. We are looking for a creative and dynamic Director of Partnership Development who, in close coordination with the Leadership Team, will develop and execute fundraising strategy across Markle’s initiatives. As a leader of the Fundraising team, the Director of Partnership Development will be instrumental in creating fundraising strategy and will be responsible for all activities related to donors and prospects. They will participate in cultivation and solicitation activity with donors as appropriate, playing the lead role, partnering with Markle colleagues and donors in a co-leadership role, and/or preparing Markle colleagues to play the lead role.

    Strategy and leadership
    • Determine overall Fundraising Strategy for Markle —including National, State, Colorado and Indiana Initiatives. Redefine Markle’s elevator pitch and aligning our messaging internally and externally. Support Leadership Team and senior staff in assessing funding opportunities in support of anticipated programming and operational needs. Participate in Markle strategic planning effort and help clarify and execute next steps around fundraising, partner development and Markle’s path to longer term sustainability.
    • Understand leading trends in philanthropy and social impact investing.
    • Supervise other fundraising staff, as resources grow.
    Sourcing and prioritization
    • Determine Prospects from connections and research, for National, State, Colorado and Indiana Initiatives; understand areas of potential alignment and program areas of focus.
    • Prioritize & sequence engagement for each initiative based on ROI.
    • Support the Leadership Team and senior staff to manage close engagement with donors as partners and thought leaders contributing to Markle’s overall success. Manage partner coordination.
    • Compare funder interest and Markle needs via Goals, Strategic Plan & other funding prospects.
    Crafting and making the ask
    • Develop formal proposals with compelling fundraising content for specific funders, in collaboration with the Leadership Team and other staff. Project manage initial proposal process.
    Analytics and reporting
    • Develop reporting capabilities and processes based on industry best practices.
    • Convene and lead internal fundraising calls/meetings.
    • Provide monthly Prioritization & Progress Review and Quarterly Fundraising Step Backs.
    Required Skills
    Passion for and commitment to Markle’s mission
    10+ years of experience in fundraising and instituting best practices
    Demonstrated record of success in generating significant contributions
    Experience with donor database management, and CRM preferably Salesforce
    Superior written and verbal communications skills
    Excellent attention to detail, project management, and organizational skills
    Creativity and vision for growth
    Proficiency in Microsoft suite and Adobe
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships, influence others, and ability to interact diplomatically with donors
    Strong analytical and critical problem solving skills
    Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
    Capacity to effectively handle multiple projects with high level of complexity in a deadline-driven environment
