    Rework America’s Networks define and advance policies and practices among educators, training providers, employers, policymakers, technologists, and workers themselves so that all are better equipped to anticipate, adapt to, and harness for good the rapid pace of technological change transforming our economy. Rework America Business Network was launched in 2018 with 11 founding large U.S. member companies, which collectively employ approximately 2.2 million Americans. These companies seek to deepen their talent pools of qualified candidates and expand opportunities for people of diverse backgrounds by recruiting and hiring with a focus on individuals’ skills. Member companies also seek to explore how companies can better utilize a skills-based approach when it comes to learning and development.

    The Skillful Initiative is developing skills-based training and employment practices in collaboration with state governments, local employers, educators and workforce development organizations. Skillful and its partners are working to create a labor market in which skills are valued, and people can more easily access the information and education they need to keep pace with technology’s impact on work. Skillful currently operates in two states, Skillful Colorado and Skillful Indiana, bringing investment, training, tools and innovative methods to augment local workforce development efforts. It formed and facilitates the Skillful State Network, a collaboration among 29 state governors to accelerate the development and deployment of effective skills-based practices to transform their labor markets.

    Job Summaries and Responsibilities: 

    The Markle Foundation is an entrepreneurial and innovative organization with a graphically dispersed team that is committed to creating a skills-based labor market that works for all Americans. We are looking for a Project Coordinator who will provide excellent support to the Chief Of Staff as well as Executive Director, Rework America Business Network. The successful candidate will be adaptable, very detail-oriented, and team-oriented. This role will report to the Chief Of Staff. The candidate should expect to join a collegial organization that places a high premium on intellectual curiosity and collaboration.

    The Project Coordinator will provide high level of project based and administrative assistance primarily to the Chief of Staff and provide calendar management, travel, expenses support to Executive Director, Rework America Business Network, by prioritizing and adjusting workloads to ensure smooth operations.

    Strategic Planning & Organizing:
    • Coordinate, prioritize, and trouble-shoot inquiries to ensure productivity and responsiveness of Chief of Staff. Anticipate needs. Create daily and weekly plans.
    • Schedule meetings and handle the communication of priorities and needed actions for the Chief of Staff. Manage calendar for Executive Director, Rework America Business Network.
    • Handle administrative responsibilities such as booking travel, expense, and travel reimbursements, with a strong sense of attention to detail. Update salesforce database as needed for contacts and meetings.
    • Support the Leadership Team in coordination, logistics, and strategic planning.
    Communication & Research:
    • Handle confidential information with tactfulness and discretion.
    • Support with preparation for and follow up on internal and external meetings, including public engagements.
    • Research and accurately synthesize information to support the Chief of Staff, with a focus on policy
    • Research and planning support for the Chief of Staff in the development of a network focused on learning and skill-building
    Support with Project Management:
    • Create, edit, and maintain schedule of meetings, to dos, and deadlines, and correspondence in Microsoft office programs
    • Manage, track and coordinate activities and tasks.
    • Provide regular updates on current projects by gathering information from project managers and leaders, prompting them for any necessary actions.
    Support with Team Coordination:
    • Coordinate with teams across the organization proactively. Identify appropriate meeting participants; work with appropriate teams to prepare and/or manage the preparation of reports, briefings, other documents, and responses on tactical and strategic issues, as necessary.
    Other administrative duties and cross team support as needed.
     

    Critical Skills and Competencies Considered:

    • Writing: Demonstrated ability to draft clear and concise letters and emails. Good proofreading skills.
    • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively to various audiences in-person, over the phone, and in writing. Excellent communication, relationship management. Must know how/when to report up the chain of command and seek management oversight.
    • Research: Ability to identify and accurately synthesize information from reliable sources.
    • Judgment and Decision Making: Ability to research, apply judgment, and formulate a point of view or recommendation. For example, identifying potential vendors, evaluating options and bringing a recommendation to the principal (making travel arrangements, coordinating events, etc.). Has discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. Ability to handle sensitive information with tact and to maintain confidentiality Professional demeanor with ability to interact with others with tact and diplomacy.
    • Team player: Excels in an open office environment. Effective and efficient at balancing the needs of numerous team members. Ability to interface with all levels within the organization. Must be a team player with good people skills. Patience and excellent oral communication skills—maintaining composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure.
    • Microsoft Office: Proficiency using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Project support: Ability to think through a project, define a process and timeline, and oversee its completion.
    • Time Management: Good time management skills. Superior planning, organization, analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects. Ability to respond appropriately to pressures, deadlines, and frequent changes in schedules and priorities; Nimble and flexible.
    • Passion for the Skillful mission and value: Displays a curiosity and passion for the mission at hand.
    • Data-base Software: Experience and comfort using database software such as Salesforce.
    • Troubleshooting Office Equipment: Ability to troubleshoot and solve common problems arising with office equipment such as printers, AV equipment, and phone systems.
    • Prior experience in a not-for-profit, foundation or public sector institution preferred but not essential.
