Paul Wallace, MD, is Medical Director for Kaiser Permanente’s Health and Productivity Management Programs and Senior Advisor for Avivia Health, the KP disease management company established in 2005. In these roles, he leads work to extend Kaiser Permanente’s experience with population-based care to further develop and integrate wellness, health maintenance, and productivity enhancement interventions. He also participates on the KP Interregional New Technology Committee.

Wallace is a member of the Institute for Medicine Board for Public Health and Population Care, and serves also on boards for AcademyHealth and the Society for Participatory Medicine. He has previously been a board member for DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance and the Center for Information Therapy. He has also been a member of the Committee for Performance Measurement at the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), the Medical Advisory Panel for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Technology Evaluation Center, the Medical Coverage Advisory Committee for CMS, and the National Advisory Council for the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

Since 1997, his full-time focus has been administrative and development endeavors in the application of evidence-based medicine within disease management, measurement of clinical performance, technology assessment, and use of the electronic medical record. He previously worked for KP’s Northwest Region, where he directed the Clinical Practice Guidelines Program and Chronic Care Management programs from 1994 to 2000. Between 2000 and 2005, he was director of KP’s national Care Management Institute.
