Alan Dowling, MD, PhD

Alan Dowling, MD, PhD, has a career spanning over 35 years in various phases of health informatics. His background includes global leadership experience in corporate and nonprofit organizations, extensive strategic and governance expertise, and health care delivery, research, and academic experience.

Since 2000, Dowling has been President of Global Health Associates LLC, providing executive and board consultation on information systems and technology transfer, and adoption in the U.S. and internationally. His academic career includes teaching at Case Western Reserve University since 1981. He has been a lecturer or invited speaker at various institutes of higher learning, including Yale University, Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Delaware, Georgetown University, Ohio State University, Michigan State University, University of Missouri, Harvard University, Georgia Institute of Technology, George Washington University, Boston University, Northwestern University, University of Massachusetts, University of Tokyo, University of Cape Town, and American University of Beirut.

Dowling holds a doctorate in Health Care Management and Management Information Systems from MIT, a Master of Computer Science degree from the University of Dayton, and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Northeastern University.
