Howard Messing

As President and Chief Executive Officer, Howard Messing works closely with MEDITECH’s Chairman and Vice Chairman to guide the direction of the company’s products, policies, and business. He brings to MEDITECH and its customers more than three decades of experience and insight into the evolution of Health Care Information Systems in all types of organizations.

In 1974, after graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and attending Rutgers University graduate school, Messing began his career at MEDITECH as a programmer. He soon rose to the position of Director of HCIS, where, in addition to his administrative duties, he played an active role in the development and enhancement of its products. In 1984, he was named Vice President of Implementation. In this position, he provided overall guidance to staff members involved in product installation at more than 1,000 customer sites.

In April of 1995, the Board of Directors appointed Messing Executive Vice President. He held this position until July of 2002, when the Board of Directors unanimously appointed him President and Chief Operations Officer. In June of 2010, he was promoted to Chief Executive Officer, carrying an official title of President and CEO. In this role, he continues to oversee the successful development, marketing, sales, implementation, and service of MEDITECH’s products.
